UNLEASH YOUR GENIUS
Do I do the urgent or the important stuff?
Have you ever heard of that planning & organising tool, with which you categorise your tasks according to importance & urgency? You basically divide your tasks into a quadrant consisting of: 1) important & urgent, 2) important & not urgent, 3) not important & urgent, 4) not important & not urgent.
You are supposed to tackle the urgent and important ones first. So our sense of urgency drives what we tackle first. First get rid of what is due and then look at what matters.
I disagree!
As much as a deadline can be a source of action and yes, sometimes motivation, it really bugs me how time pressure takes over. I would like to argue that in this world of hyper-connectivity and change, almost everything is URGENT and must absolutely happen NOW. So if we let urgency dictate our actions, when will we find the inner calm, the overview and the sense of purpose to invest in what matters? If we always prioritse the urgent stuff, when do we get down to doing the important stuff?
Is personal branding fake?
A lot of people are insecure about what personal branding actually is. Most of us tend to associate the term "branding" with marketing a product. We tend to see it as presenting a certain thing, in a certain way with the ultimate goal of selling that thing to as many people as possible, at the highest profit possible. Branding is therefore often considered a fake, capitalist practice and the idea of applying this to yourself seems like selling your soul.
